The short answer

Choose the selected RGB30 64G at $189.99 when a square-view collection and an upper-left D-pad are the reasons you want a handheld. Investigate the independently listed X55 when a wider playing picture and a left stick above the D-pad better match your actual games. That X55 page starts with Machine Only at $199.99 and offers 64G 21000GAMES at $239.99. These are different complete offers, not equal preparation or an isolated screen upgrade.

Do not automatically spend another $30 on RGB30 128G at $219.99 before deciding which screen shape you want. X55 Machine Only is $20 below that RGB30 selection, but its boot arrangement and required preparation must be understood. Conversely, the selected X55 64G-labelled package is $50 above RGB30 64G. There is no single model-wide premium.

Our conditional recommendation is RGB30 for a specifically wanted near-square or portrait-oriented collection, X55 for a specifically wanted wider view. For a mixed collection, choose around the games you will actually return to, not the largest panel or capacity number. Keep a suitable handheld you already own when neither changes an important session.

1. Start with the evening you want back

Imagine returning to a familiar puzzle after dinner, following a small character through a map, or reading the next conversation in a story. These are different viewing jobs. A tall playing field may need height more than width. A side-scrolling scene may need room across the picture. A dialogue box needs letters you can read at your ordinary distance, not an impressive diagonal printed on a poster.

Choose three representative releases, not three platform logos. Record the original edition, the controls you need and the scene that makes the viewing question meaningful. A modern remake, an older handheld release and a home-console version can present the same characters differently. Recognizing artwork does not establish supplied software or compatibility.

For a mixed collection, identify the game you most want to continue tomorrow. That game deserves more weight than a long list you may never launch. A screen that serves your actual routine can be a better purchase than one that wins an unrelated specification comparison.

Blue X55 source diagram with upper-left stick, lower D-pad and annotated connections
Original diagram from the independently identified X55 offer. It explains the pictured layout, not supplied cables, tested output or a working game.

2. Two formats, neither universally better

The selected RGB30 source identifies a four-inch, 720×720 direction. Its square-front reference places the D-pad above the left stick and the face buttons above the right stick. The selected X55 source advertises a 5.5-inch IPS screen and writes the pixel axes as 720×1280. Its landscape front places the left stick above the D-pad and the face buttons above the right stick.

Those are attributed source specifications and currently inspected reference arrangements, not measurements of a shipped unit. The exact X55 source does not independently settle landscape pixel-axis ordering. This guide therefore does not award it a calculated physical-area or readability percentage by silently reversing those numbers.

The useful comparison survives that uncertainty: a square and a wider rectangle frame different source pictures differently. Preserve the intended proportions, then consider whether the actual displayed picture and control positions suit you. Bigger whole-panel diagonal does not establish the bigger picture for every game shape.

3. Why a square can be the deliberate choice

A near-square source picture can occupy much of a square canvas without being forced into a very wide rectangle. A portrait-oriented playing field can use height that wider content does not need. These are reasons to investigate RGB30 when the relevant release and software can provide the desired presentation.

Do not confuse that direction with automatic rotation support, a verified vertical arcade library or a promise that every game fills the screen. The actual game, display aspect, emulator and orientation settings still matter. A portrait game can also require control mapping that differs from the artwork you first saw.

For a player who mostly uses digital directions, the pictured high D-pad can be part of the appeal independently of screen shape. The lower sticks remain available in the reference arrangement, but their presence does not establish every analog function. Screen preference and input preference should reinforce your choice rather than excuse one another.

4. Why a wide view can deserve a different device

A wider source picture shown proportionally on a square panel leaves space above and below. If your favorite scenes are consistently wide, the X55 format deserves a closer look before you buy additional storage on RGB30. The relevant benefit is the view you prefer during ordinary play, not the idea that all unused pixels are a defect.

The X55's high left stick may also suit an actual analog-input task. For a D-pad-led collection, consider the lower-left D-pad and the reach you would use for sustained movement. A photograph establishes position, not better diagonals, lower latency or long-session comfort for everyone.

Do not pay for a hypothetical future game that has not been shown to work in the intended setup. A larger screen and visible sticks cannot supply missing software compatibility. If a demanding game is decisive, settle that release and its actual conditions before using the X55 format as the answer.

5. A mixed collection needs a priority, not a universal winner

A player alternating a compact puzzle field and a wider adventure has a real trade-off. Choose which experience deserves the better fit and which compromise you can comfortably accept. Buying one device does not require pretending that every original game shares its shape.

For story-led play, inspect the dialogue and inventory of the actual release. For platform action, inspect meaningful edges, character movement and directional control. For a portrait arcade interest, check orientation, mapping and performance together. A display setting that looks attractive in a still image may not establish the whole playing workflow.

Avoid counting the number of supported system names as votes for a screen. Ten rarely played systems should not automatically outweigh one game you expect to finish. The most useful collection is one you can find, control, save and enjoy, not necessarily the largest menu.

6. Borders, stretching and cropping are different choices

Borders can preserve the intended picture. Stretching fills a differently shaped panel by changing geometry. Cropping fills space by removing part of the image. These treatments are not interchangeable, and a game can become less useful when a critical edge or interface element disappears.

On a square canvas, conventional landscape content fitted proportionally leaves top and bottom space. It is not correct to describe every 4:3-on-square example as side borders. On a wider canvas, sufficiently narrow content can instead leave space at the sides. The border direction follows the content and destination shapes.

Integer scaling uses a whole-number source multiplier. Maximum proportional fit may use resampling to make a larger intended-aspect picture. Neither choice automatically wins for every game, filter or viewing distance. Ask about the actual available mode instead of assuming a promotional composition proves an installed preset.

7. Two arithmetic examples, not captured RGB30 output

Using a stated 720×720 canvas as an assumption, a raw 160×144 grid at 4× becomes 640×576. Centered, it leaves 40 columns at each side and 72 rows at both top and bottom. This explains how a near-square source can occupy much of the canvas without stretching.

A raw 240×160 example at 3× becomes 720×480. Centered in the same assumed square, it leaves 120 rows at the top and 120 at the bottom, with no unused side columns. Filling the entire square would require a different treatment of that source picture.

These examples use raw grids, not a certification of correct display aspect for every release, actual panel tolerances or supplied emulator behavior. Aspect correction, overlays and filters can change the result. They do not measure clarity, processing speed or a preference advantage over X55.

8. The exact RGB30 choices behind this recommendation

The selected RGB30 page has Blue, Black and White, each with 64G at $189.99 and 128G at $219.99. All six retrieved combinations are covered by these two rows. Color does not carry a price premium within this set.

Exact capacity label Blue Black White
64G $189.99 $189.99 $189.99
128G $219.99 $219.99 $219.99

The $30 step is a whole selected-offer difference attached to capacity wording. It is not a documented processor, panel or control upgrade. Confirm actual usable space, physical cards, installed preparation and the files you intend to use before deciding that more storage is useful.

An independently listed four-color RGB30 with a much larger package menu is a separate commercial offer. Its game counts, stronger-looking specifications, bag options and price structure do not become part of this six-variant page. Follow the exact URL and selectors used for the recommendation.

9. The independent X55 menu is a different offer

The independently reviewed X55 page offers WHITE, BLACK and BLUE, each across twelve Bundle selections. Every color has the same price for a given bundle, so the following twelve rows cover all 36 combinations. Keep spelling and missing units intact rather than silently improving an order label.

Exact Bundle label USD price in each color
Machine Only $199.99
64G 21000GAMES $239.99
128G 29000 GAMES $259.99
256G 61000 GAMES $289.99
512G10000 GAMES $399.99
512G ONLY PSP 510 $419.99
16G BAG $239.99
64 BAG $229.99
128G BAG $279.99
256G BAG $309.99
512G BAG $459.99
512G PSP AND BAG $479.99

Machine Only does not fully explain supplied boot media or first-use preparation. The literal 64 BAG name omits G; do not turn it into confirmed capacity. It is also $10 below 16G BAG, so the menu is not a simple ladder of progressively better equipment.

The source has conflicting older game counts. 512G10000 GAMES says 10000, not 100000. PSP wording does not establish 510 unique working games, supplied rights or uniform performance. Resolve actual relevant contents instead of choosing the largest claim in an older picture.

10. Decide the format before spending the storage premium

The selected RGB30 64G is $189.99. Its 128G step is $30. Independent X55 Machine Only is $199.99, which is $10 above RGB30 64G and $20 below RGB30 128G. Independent X55 64G 21000GAMES is $239.99, which is $50 above RGB30 64G and $20 above RGB30 128G.

That crossover matters when the problem is your preferred view rather than storage room. Buying the RGB30 128G label does not make its screen wide. Buying X55 Machine Only does not prove an equally prepared package. The right comparison includes the actual setup each choice requires.

With a $250 device-only ceiling, RGB30 64G leaves $60.01, RGB30 128G leaves $30.01, independent X55 Machine Only leaves $50.01 and its selected 64G package leaves $10.01. These are arithmetic balances before destination charges or separately needed equipment, not delivered quotes or an instruction to spend the remainder.

11. Keep the main X55 page separate too

The main four-color X55 page offers X55 White, X55 Black, X55 Green and X55 Blue across four Bundle values. X55 followed by two spaces and No Card is $239.99; 64G is $279.99; 128G is $319.99; 256G is $379.99. Each price applies in all four colors, covering sixteen retrieved combinations.

Against RGB30 64G at $189.99, those whole-offer differences are $50, $90, $130 and $190. They are not the independent X55 page's $10 entry or $50 selected-64G gap. A shared model name is not permission to attach the main page's packing graphic to the independent page's lower price.

This guide does not claim the lowest X55 price anywhere in the store. Other independently configured offers exist. Its purpose is to explain a purchase between identified selections while keeping each page's actual contents and evidence together.

12. A familiar chip name does not settle the session

RGB30's identifying material attributes RK3566 and a Linux-based direction. The independent X55's artwork also names RK3566, while its written history and artwork conflict on RAM. That page explicitly leaves selected-unit memory unresolved. No RAM advantage is awarded here.

Shared chip-family wording is not a paired performance result. Board revisions, firmware, emulator, settings and individual titles can affect behavior. No controlled frame pacing, audio, temperature, input-latency or sustained-play comparison has been performed for this article.

For a specific demanding target, obtain relevant evidence tied to its exact release and installed software. More storage does not fix an unverified processing requirement. Do not treat either offer as an established native modern-PC, PS2, GameCube or Switch purchase route from the pictures or system lists.

13. Understand the first boot before choosing a gift

Historical ArkOS wording on RGB30 does not confirm the exact installed distribution on your selection. ArkOS is Linux-based community firmware, not an independent second operating system to count alongside Linux. X55's source does not identify a verified supplied distribution either. Firmware can vary by batch and can be updated or re-flashed.

Identify the boot medium, collection location and save paths before changing anything. A diagram showing two slots does not prove two supplied cards or their roles. Machine Only, No Card and a capacity label are not complete storage diagrams, and another model's system image is not interchangeable merely because it also uses Linux.

For a Birthday Gift, the useful outcome is a first session the recipient understands: start the device, find a wanted game, use its essential controls, make a normal save and shut down correctly. A high capacity or attractive shell is not a readiness certificate. Confirm language, contents and actual order timing separately.

Black Powkiddy zip case shown closed and open around a black X55
Original X55 case reference, not an audited packing list or protection rating for every BAG selection.

14. Preserve progress and plan the carry routine

Check a normal in-game save and reload before committing a long campaign. Save states are different and can depend on emulator, core and version. Do not assume a state transfers unchanged between RGB30 and X55. Follow supported backup instructions before formatting or changing software.

For travel, confirm the complete shell and protruding controls fit the actual carrying solution. The inspected X55 case photograph shows a zip case, mesh lid pocket and straps around a black device; it does not establish which case accompanies each BAG selection or certify drop or water protection.

No controlled runtime comparison is available here. Battery-capacity wording and a photograph do not establish hours, battery health or a flight-long session. Follow the actual supplied power instructions; USB-C alone does not certify a fast-charge protocol, video output or an included wall adapter.

15. What would make each choice worthwhile?

Choose RGB30 when your most-used games genuinely benefit from the square-view proposition, its pictured digital-high arrangement suits you and the selected preparation is understood. Start with 64G if it provides the useful space you need. Its lower selected price is a valid reason to leave money unspent.

Choose the independent X55 when your collection's wider scenes or an actual analog-input task make its view and stick-high arrangement more useful. Choose Machine Only only with an understood boot and file plan; compare the named storage packages when their actual preparation serves your needs.

Choose neither when your current handheld already provides a satisfactory picture, suitable controls and dependable progress, or when the decisive game or setup remains unconfirmed. Waiting for the one missing fact is better than increasing capacity in the hope that it changes screen shape or compatibility.

16. Six checks before checkout

  1. Identify three actual releases and the viewing, directional, analog and save tasks they require.
  2. Choose the collection's priority: near-square or portrait interest, wider scenes, or a genuinely balanced compromise.
  3. Inspect the actual intended aspect mode and pictured input arrangement. Seek relevant title-specific evidence when decisive.
  4. Record the exact offer URL, Color and Bundle wording, price and required preparation. Do not merge independent pages.
  5. Confirm boot media, useful storage, installed environment, normal saves, actual packing and carrying needs.
  6. Review the final destination total and applicable store information, then buy the useful difference, retain a suitable device or resolve an essential unknown.

These are recommended buying checks, not six completed hardware tests. A satisfactory decision should explain what changes during the session, not simply which number increased on the order.

17. Buyer FAQ

Is X55 automatically better because its advertised diagonal is larger?

No. Whole-panel diagonal does not establish the active picture size for every source shape, measured readability, comfort or game behavior. Start with the actual release, intended proportions and viewing task.

Who should investigate RGB30 first?

A buyer with a specific near-square or portrait-oriented interest who also prefers the pictured upper-left D-pad. Confirm the actual game, display mode and preparation rather than assuming the square shape certifies them.

Who should investigate X55 first?

A buyer whose wanted wider scene or actual analog task fits its landscape view and stick-above-D-pad arrangement. The relevant software and exact package still need to serve the task.

Is the difference $10 or $50?

Both describe identified choices. Independent X55 Machine Only at $199.99 is $10 above RGB30 64G at $189.99. Independent X55 64G 21000GAMES at $239.99 is $50 above it. Equal preparation is not established.

Should I buy RGB30 128G before comparing X55?

Not automatically. RGB30 128G is $219.99, while independent X55 Machine Only is $20 less and its selected 64G package is $20 more. Decide the useful format first, then confirm actual preparation and storage.

Does more storage improve the screen or processor?

No such upgrade is documented for these capacity-labelled tiers. Buy confirmed useful space or preparation, not an assumed performance improvement.

Are the scaling examples device tests?

No. They use raw grids and an assumed 720×720 canvas. They do not establish installed presets, correct aspect for every release, physical measurements or captured gameplay.

Why are there borders above and below a wider picture on a square?

Proportional fitting reaches the square's width before its height. The remaining height becomes top and bottom space. Stretching to fill instead changes the source geometry.

Does Machine Only mean ready to play?

The label does not establish the boot arrangement, installed files or complete packing. Confirm those details before treating it as a prepared gift or comparing total setup cost.

Does 64 BAG prove 64GB and the same games as the plain selection?

No. The exact name omits G and does not repeat the plain package's game count. Clarify the actual storage and contents; do not normalize the name into a guarantee.

Do the game-count labels establish included working titles?

No. They are literal option wording, not a unique-title, playability or rights audit. Identify the exact releases you want and obtain relevant contents and behavior information.

Which device has better battery life or controls?

No controlled comparative runtime, latency or comfort result is established. The reference images support control position, not a universal quality winner. Choose around an evidenced task and actual power instructions.

Are the main and independent X55 offers equivalent?

Equivalence is not established. They have different URLs, selectors and prices. Keep hardware, storage, firmware, packing and required preparation tied to the actual selected page.

What is the final buying rule?

Choose the view you will use, then the lowest understood package that serves it. RGB30 is the conditional square-view route; X55 is the conditional wider-view route. A suitable existing device remains a good answer.

18. Evidence and product routes

This guide uses the complete selected RGB30 six-variant record, main X55 sixteen-variant record and independent X55 thirty-six-variant record reviewed October 26, 2026. Prices and literal selector names are store-record facts. Hardware information remains attributed source material. Mathematical examples are calculated assumptions, not measurements. No unit-level performance, runtime, charging, comfort or packing test is claimed.
