Retro Handheld Buying Guide: Match Actual Prices, Screens and Game Needs
Start with the actual game requirement and device-price budget, not a model-name ranking. The selected S costs $79.99/$89.99 for 64GB/128GB; PRO costs $89.99/$99.99 and MAX costs $99.99/$109.99 at those nominal capacities. The selected Flip 2 is $499.99, not a sub-$250 alternative. S suits a compact classic-focused purchase; consider PRO or MAX for a larger listed display, not a presumed speed tier. Treat Flip 2 as a separate folding Android direction requiring its actual configuration and software needs checked. This seller guide from the iGameConsole Editorial Team uses identified listing facts. The product-evidence guide explains why specifications, supplied content and measured tests are different evidence.
R36S — Compact Format and Lower Outlay
Consider S when its listed 3.5-inch display, selected capacity price and classic-platform focus fit your actual needs. NES, SNES, GBA and PS1 are the listing focus; N64 and PSP are title-dependent, Dreamcast limited, and PS2 unsupported. Advertised 15,000+/20,000+ counts are not verified manifests of editions, languages, rights, performance or unique additions. Learn the supplied menus, saves and normal shutdown; no timed first start, pre-optimized library or market-wide reliability ranking is established. Extra nominal capacity is not extra processing speed.

At matched 64GB or 128GB capacity, selected PRO costs $10 more than S and lists a 4-inch 640×480 screen rather than S’s 3.5-inch IPS screen. Both list RK3326, which neither proves identical behavior nor establishes PRO as a faster N64/PSP tier. Pay for a specific display or package preference only after checking actual controls, supplied software and essential games. Replacing a working S costs the full PRO purchase, not only $10; keeping a suitable device is valid.

Selected MAX costs $20 more than S at matched nominal capacity and lists a 4-inch 640×480 IPS display. A larger diagonal is not a higher listed pixel count, a demonstrated eye-strain benefit or proof of longer comfortable sessions. Matching chip and memory labels do not establish identical manufacture, firmware, libraries or performance. MAX 64GB is $99.99 in device price; 128GB is $109.99. Confirm essential games and actual package needs before purchasing; replacement costs the full new-device price.

The selected color-only Flip 2 offer is $499.99 for the listed finishes, not $219 and not under $250. It lists a folding format, 5.5-inch AMOLED and Android direction, but shipped storage, chipset, RAM, exact build, apps, Google Play, output and game results require confirmation for this offer. Do not transfer specs or results from another same-name package. The device-price difference is $420 versus S 64GB or $410 versus S 128GB, not a matched-storage comparison. If a PS2 game or Android workflow is essential, resolve that requirement before buying.
