R36S vs R40S Pro: Compare the Actual $79.99 Offers
Quick verdict: Compare the selected R36S ($79.99 for 64GB / $89.99 for 128GB) with R40S Pro ($79.99 with the exact 256GB 35000 Games package label). The Pro base offer is the same product price as R36S 64GB, not automatically $30–50 more. A separate Pro URL offers four 256G-labeled colors at $119.99; that is a different offer, not proof of different hardware. The selected Pro supplier text describes a 3.5-inch IPS screen and RK3326, not a verified larger-screen or faster-PSP upgrade. Choose by actual games, media, controls and configuration rather than a Pro name or library total.
Store-grounded buying guidance from the iGameConsole Editorial Team. Current selected prices and option names are catalog facts; supplier descriptions are not inspected hardware or measured gameplay. No comparative panel, thermal, runtime or performance test is reported here.

📺 Screen & Display
R36S lists a 3.5-inch IPS display at 640 × 480. The selected $79.99 R40S Pro supplier text also describes 3.5-inch IPS at 640 × 480. The earlier 4-inch upgrade story is not supported by this selected offer. Do not transfer R40S or R40XX Pro specifications to R40S Pro.
- R36S: Listed 3.5-inch IPS at 640 × 480. Evaluate actual text, grip and viewing distance; no panel-quality benchmark is reported.
- Selected R40S Pro: Supplier-described 3.5-inch IPS at 640 × 480, not the earlier 4-inch story. Confirm the present unit and readable game text.
Screen decision: A model name does not establish a larger panel or better colors. Compare actual dialogue readability, normal viewing distance, grip and the physical unit. No measured screen-quality, portability or comfort winner is established here.
⚡ Performance & Emulation
R36S lists Rockchip RK3326 and 1GB DDR3L. The selected R40S Pro supplier text describes RK3326, while its written RAM information contains conflicting values. Do not present both as Allwinner H700/1GB DDR3 or invent a thermal-management advantage. Shared advertised chipset wording also does not establish identical title-by-title results.
| Platform | R36S | R40S Pro | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| NES / SNES / GBA | Classic-focused shortlist | Check exact-game setup | No identical-results claim; verify sound and saves |
| PlayStation 1 | Check exact release and media | Check exact release and media | Disc handling and saves depend on actual setup |
| Nintendo 64 | Variable; title and settings matter | Require relevant priority-game evidence | No matched Pro superiority reported |
| PSP | Mixed on demanding titles | Require exact-device game evidence | No thermal-performance benefit or all-PSP promise |
| Sega Genesis / GBC | Check release and controls | Check release and controls | Verify inclusion separately from performance |
💡 Key Insight
Start with the games you actually want. Check running, acceptable sound and speed, controls, saves and reloads on the exact firmware. The selected R40S Pro is not established as a processing upgrade. More capacity or a Pro name does not demonstrate better PSP/N64 gameplay, and price alone does not settle suitability.
🔋 Battery Life
| Gaming Scenario | R36S | R40S Pro |
|---|---|---|
| GBA / SNES | No matched measured hours | Record game, settings and duration |
| PS1 | Brightness and workload matter | Compare matching conditions |
| PSP | Confirm acceptable gameplay separately | No fixed runtime guarantee |
Battery decision: No matched measured runtime is reported. The earlier fixed hours and two-extra-hours advantage are withdrawn. Written battery and charging claims are not independent measurements. Compare the same game, brightness, firmware, settings and battery condition; follow the delivered unit’s documented charging instructions.
💰 Price & Value
R36S
64GB $79.99 · 128GB $89.99
- 64GB $79.99 / 128GB $89.99
- Listed 15,000+ / 20,000+; exact titles separate
- RK3326 / 1GB DDR3L listed
- No matched runtime or laboratory winner claimed
- Check essential games, menus and saving
- Confirm actual package and applicable support
R40S Pro
256GB-labeled offer $79.99
- Selected price $79.99 across four colors
- Exact 256GB 35000 Games package label
- Supplier-described 3.5-inch IPS / RK3326
- RAM and game totals contain conflicting written values
- No measured performance, wireless or runtime advantage
- Confirm actual media, firmware, games and controls
The actual math: The selected Pro offer and R36S 64GB both cost $79.99; R36S 128GB costs $10 more. Their media and capacity labels are different, so this is not a like-for-like usable-storage or complete-package comparison. The separate Pro offer at $119.99 is $40 above R36S 64GB, but a different URL and price do not certify upgraded hardware or identical contents. Confirm what is delivered and compare shipping, taxes and any eligible discount in the actual checkout total.
🎯 Who Should Buy Which?
| You are... | Best Choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A beginner to retro gaming | Compare actual first-use setup | Menus, saves and shutdown matter more than fabricated reviews |
| Buying a gift | Match recipient and contents | Verify games, package and first boot; neither is guaranteed zero setup |
| A NES / SNES / GBA / PS1 fan | Check games and controls | Selected base prices match; no universal identical-performance claim |
| A serious PSP gamer | Require priority-game evidence | No measured thermal or processing upgrade establishes a Pro winner |
| A long-session home gamer | Compare actual grip and runtime | No larger-screen or fixed battery-duration advantage is established |
| A Pokémon / GBA fan | Check exact release and saving | Counts do not prove named-title inclusion, rights or perfect results |
🏆 Final Verdict: R36S vs R40S Pro
Consider R36S if its checked games, actual controls and 64GB or 128GB configuration fit you. The selected offer gives explicit 15,000+ / 20,000+ listed counts and $79.99 / $89.99 prices. Counts are not proof of essential titles, rights, perfect performance or no preparation. A review total is not used to manufacture a winner.
Compare the selected $79.99 R40S Pro offer if its actual device and 256GB-labeled package better meet your needs. Select PURPLE, WHITE, black or green after checking exact unit, firmware, media and games. Its supplier-described 3.5-inch screen is not a confirmed 4-inch upgrade; no measured PSP/N64, thermal or runtime benefit justifies a blanket Pro recommendation.
iGC buying rule: pay for a specific demonstrated benefit, not a model name, an invented experience-percentage statistic or an inflated library number. The two selected base offers share a $79.99 product price, so actual fit and contents should decide.

Is the R40S Pro worth the extra money over the R36S?
Not automatically. The selected R40S Pro offer costs $79.99, matching R36S 64GB; R36S 128GB costs $89.99. A separate Pro URL costs $119.99. Choose by verified games, media, controls and fit, not an assumed 4-inch screen, full-speed PSP, longer measured runtime or generic price premium.
Do the R36S and R40S Pro have the same processor?
R36S lists RK3326, not Allwinner H700. The selected Pro supplier text also describes RK3326, but that does not inspect the delivered board or settle conflicting RAM values. No identical-performance or better-thermal-management result is established. Confirm the exact unit before firmware or accessory decisions.
Does the R40S Pro come with preloaded games?
The selected Pro variants use the exact 256GB 35000 Games package label. That label is not an audited unique-title inventory, a rights assurance or proof of usable capacity and physical card layout. R36S lists 15,000+ games for 64GB and 20,000+ for 128GB. Confirm actual contents and your essential releases separately; neither count guarantees zero setup.
Which has better battery life — R36S or R40S Pro?
No matched battery-life winner is reported. The earlier 9.5-versus-7.5-hour laboratory story and fixed two-hour advantage lack supporting measurement here. Written battery capacity or endurance advertising does not establish actual runtime. Compare matching workload, settings and battery condition.
Does the R40S Pro have built-in WiFi?
Built-in Wi-Fi and the required online functions are not established for this selected Pro offer. Do not buy it for scraping, online play or another connection feature without exact-unit and firmware confirmation. R36S built-in Wi-Fi and compatibility with a particular USB adapter are not confirmed here either.
Which is better for Pokémon games — R36S or R40S Pro?
Identify the exact Pokémon release, platform, edition and language. Check supplied inclusion separately from running, acceptable performance and saving. Library counts or labels do not prove a named title or rights. No all-Pokémon, perfect-performance or automatic-price-saving claim is made for either selected offer.
Which is better as a gift — R36S or R40S Pro?
Match the recipient’s games, screen preference, actual controls and willingness to learn menus, saving and safe shutdown. The selected Pro offer and R36S 64GB share a $79.99 product price, so invented review counts or a generic premium should not decide. Confirm package, first boot, instructions and destination delivery choices before gifting.
