R36S vs RG35XX 2024: Which Retro Handheld Should You Buy?
Quick verdict: Start with the selected R36S ($79.99 for 64GB / $89.99 for 128GB) if its classic-game focus and actual controls suit you. This comparison uses a specific RG35XX 2024-labeled offer at $179.99, with four colors and a 64G(5K Games) bundle label. At the selected 64GB-style tiers, its product price is $100 above R36S. Choose it only for an exact model, package or fit you prefer and can confirm, not an invented battery or build-quality winner. R36S is not presented as an Anbernic model, and the original RG35XX, 2024, Plus, H, SP and Pro names must not be treated as interchangeable.

📺 Screen & Display
R36S lists a 3.5-inch IPS screen at 640 × 480. This selected RG35XX 2024 offer's historical copy describes 3.5-inch IPS, but the current panel and resolution have not been independently checked here. These facts do not establish identical quality, brighter colors, tighter calibration or a larger displayed image.
- R36S: Assess game-text readability and displayed size. No measured iGC color-calibration improvement, viewing-angle test or panel-quality winner is reported.
- Selected RG35XX 2024: Verify the actual screen and model. Neither its listing name nor a brand association certifies better color accuracy, consistent panels or a blank game menu.
iGC display decision: Choose based on readable text, your preferred controls and the actual unit. A first-boot demonstration is more useful than an unsupported claim that one screen provides the better unboxing experience.
⚡ Performance & Emulation: Exact Models, Not Assumed Equivalence
R36S is listed with RK3326, not the H700 processor previously assigned to it. This article does not establish the actual processor and memory of the selected RG35XX 2024 unit, and does not substitute Plus or H specifications. No identical-performance claim or comparative star score is justified. Game, firmware, emulator, settings and card health all matter.
| Platform | R36S Buying Check | RG35XX 2024 Buying Check |
|---|---|---|
| NES / SNES / GBA | Classic-focused shortlist; verify priority titles, sound and saves | Confirm current model, firmware and essential-game behavior |
| PlayStation 1 | Check game, disc setup, audio and saving | Request actual in-game evidence for the exact unit and software |
| Nintendo 64 | Variable, title-specific results | No exact-title recommendation established by a year or bundle label |
| PSP | Mixed on demanding titles; do not rely on emulator availability alone | Verify exact model and relevant gameplay before buying for PSP |
| Sega Genesis / GBC | Check specific release, controls and saves | Confirm lawful contents and emulator behavior; no all-title guarantee |
Demanding-game decision: No iGC firmware optimization or PSP advantage is proven by this comparison. If PSP or N64 is essential, get relevant evidence for the actual unit before selecting either. R36S is not a PS2 upgrade. Distinguish inclusion, running and acceptable performance.
🔋 Battery Life: Compare Evidence and Conditions
No controlled battery-capacity or runtime comparison is reported here. Keep the three gaming scenarios as questions to investigate, not invented measured hours:
| Gaming Scenario | R36S | RG35XX 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| GBA / SNES | No matched measured hours reported | Record actual game, brightness and duration |
| PS1 | Workload and settings can affect duration | Compare matching software, settings and battery condition |
| N64 | Check gameplay suitability separately | Runtime would not itself establish suitable N64 results |
iGC battery decision: Do not choose from the withdrawn two-extra-hours or 23%-larger-battery claims. Confirm actual capacity, battery condition and safe charging instructions for the exact unit. No universal runtime winner is established.
🎮 Build Quality & Design
- R36S: Evaluate the actual controls, grip and dimensions for your hands. No comparative button-response measurement, horizontal-layout assertion, measured weight or every-unit testing certificate is reported here.
- Selected RG35XX 2024: The product's historical copy describes a vertical layout. Confirm physical model marking, control feel and dimensions on current stock. A brand name does not establish better tolerances, guaranteed quality or the warranty applicable to your order.
iGC build decision: Prefer the exact device that fits your hands and requirements. If a manufacturing revision or warranty matters, verify the current unit and express order terms rather than assuming them from a year or suffix. This article does not certify per-unit laboratory tests.
💰 Price & Value: The Actual Selected Offers
| Factor | Selected R36S | Selected RG35XX 2024 |
|---|---|---|

| Games and media | Listed 15,000+ / 20,000+ counts; check essential titles separately | 5K is an option label; confirm physical card and actual contents |
| Battery | No matched runtime advantage established | No measured comparative capacity or runtime reported |
| PSP decision | Check exact-title behavior and your requirements | Require exact-model evidence before relying on PSP |
| Quality and support | Check actual condition and applicable order and store terms | Verify physical identity and applicable terms; no automatic manufacturer-warranty promise |
| Review evidence | No independently verified aggregate rating reported | No independently verified aggregate rating reported |
Price decision: This selected RG35XX 2024 64G-labeled offer is $100 above R36S 64GB at the current USD base product prices. This is not a market-wide statement about every RG35XX seller or revision. Other URLs can have different packages and prices. Compare physical contents and final delivery, tax and discount totals separately; a game-count label is not a measured value score.
🎯 Who Should Buy Which?
🏆 Consider R36S if you:

- Want a classic-game-focused shortlist, not an invented benchmark winner
- Can learn menu use, saving and safe shutdown before gifting
- Have checked your essential games rather than assuming PSP suitability

- Have confirmed supplied media, contents and applicable support terms
- Prefer relevant evidence to unsupported review totals
🎮 Consider this RG35XX 2024 offer if you:

- Want White, Black, Grey or Purple in the specific 64G-labeled bundle
- Have checked the installed firmware, not assumed GarlicOS compatibility
- Accept the $179.99 product price for a benefit you value and can verify
- Have confirmed essential games, physical storage and first-boot behavior
This is a specific store offer, not the original RG35XX or every later revision. Review the selected RG35XX 2024 listing and confirm physical identity before ordering.
🏆 Final Verdict: R36S vs Selected RG35XX 2024 Offer
Start with R36S when its checked classic-game setup and actual controls fit your needs. Its selected $79.99 / $89.99 offers provide a concrete price reason to consider it. That is not a measured battery, build-quality, panel or universal-performance victory. Beginners and gift recipients still need practical first-use guidance.
Consider the selected RG35XX 2024 listing when its confirmed physical model, fit or package better suits you. The live selector offers White, Black, Grey and Purple, each labelled 64G(5K Games) at $179.99. Neither the year nor the bundle name certifies hardware revision, a particular firmware, current contents or better quality.
iGC buying rule: Choose the lower-cost offer that meets your actual needs. Pay the selected premium only for an exact benefit you value and can verify. Do not buy from assumed shared hardware, a blanket game-free claim, unsupported tests or automatic warranty assurances.

Is the R36S better than the RG35XX?
First identify which RG35XX revision and offer you mean. This article compares selected R36S 64GB/128GB prices of $79.99/$89.99 with one RG35XX 2024-labeled 64G offer at $179.99. R36S is a lower-cost starting point if it meets your checked needs, not a proven battery, build or performance winner over every RG35XX model.
Do the R36S and RG35XX have the same processor?
R36S is listed with Rockchip RK3326, not Allwinner H700. The actual processor of this selected RG35XX 2024 unit is not established by the inspected offer evidence. Do not copy Plus or H specifications into another model. This article makes no shared-processor or identical-gameplay claim.
Does the RG35XX come with games?
Contents depend on the actual seller, revision and bundle. This selected offer uses a 64G(5K Games) label, so it should not be described as universally game-free. The label is not an audited licensed inventory or proof of a specific title. Confirm physical storage, actual files and first boot before buying.
Which has better battery life — R36S or RG35XX?
No matched runtime comparison is reported here. Check actual capacity and charging documentation, then compare the same game, brightness, firmware, settings and battery condition. The earlier fixed-hours, two-extra-hours and 23%-larger-battery claims are withdrawn.
Can the RG35XX play PSP games?
Identify the exact revision, board and software before judging PSP suitability. The inspected RG35XX 2024 offer does not establish acceptable results for your PSP games. R36S also has mixed performance on demanding titles. An emulator name or manual tuning suggestion is not a guaranteed purchase recommendation.
Is the RG35XX an official Anbernic product?
Confirm the physical model marking, current package and manufacturer provenance for the actual unit you will receive. This selected listing identifies RG35XX 2024; that name alone does not certify a specific revision or automatic manufacturer warranty. R36S is not presented here as an Anbernic model. Review the express product and order terms separately.
Which is better for Pokémon games — R36S or RG35XX?
Start with the exact release, original platform, edition and language. Check inclusion and emulator behavior separately on the selected device and media. R36S lists 15,000+ games for 64GB and 20,000+ for 128GB, but counts do not prove named-title inclusion, licensing or perfect performance. No all-Pokémon guarantee is made for either offer.
